Alzheimers disease is the most common cause of dementia, and symptoms may include: loss of memory, difficulty in finding the right words or understanding what people are saying, difficulty in performing seemingly simple tasks, and personality and mood changes.

It is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a persons memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments and communicate, and as it progresses, individuals may also experience sudden changes in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness and agitation, as well as delusions and hallucinations.
